Natural Mosquito Repellent

I thought I would post this recipe on found Online for Natural Mosquito Repellent.
I bought a spray bottle, grape seed oil, Tea Tree Oil, Citronella and Eucalyptus from our local nutrition store. They recommend that you use Lavender and Lemongrass Oil but our nutrition didn't have it. I didn't use vegetable glycerin.

Fill the bottle 1/2 way with distilled or boiled water. Then add your witch hazel to fill the rest of the bottle. I didn't do this because it would overflow so I put it into our measuring cup and then poured it all in after everything was in.

Then you add your herbs, first I did eucalyptus, I don't think it matters which one is first.

Then I added the Citronella.

Then Tea Tree Oil, about 10/15 drops per bottle depending on how strong you want it.

Then the grape seed oil as a final touch.

Finally I labeled the bottle and when I need Mosquito Repellent I have something safe for everyone. I actually used this the other day at our local nature preserve where there is plenty of mosquito's and it worked like a gem. You can add more herbs, it as trail and error for us, but it fun to experiment.

Contenders-Pine Wood Derby

Our first skill for this school year was the Pinewood Derby. We were at Orlando Science Center and they had the Pinewood Derby, I was so excited because we missed the group getting together for the Pinewood Derby but we got to done it anyways.

DMan's Pinewood Derby Car- which we bought at our local hobby shop and DMan and his dad put it together. The Pinewood Derby Car came out awesome and DMan got to spend time with his dad which he LOVES!!!!!

DMan racing two cars at the Orlando Science Center. Learning about science in motion. This summer we did a Unit Study(Amanda Bennett) on roller coasters so DMan understood this concept so that was great to apply it.

Be on the lookout for our next skill.

DIAL INTO GIVING CFK SIMPLE SERVICE PROJECT #DIALCFK #CBIAS

We were so excited to do our DIAL Into Giving SIMPLE Service Project. First I sent out an evite to some of my friends to invite them to bring Dial Soap and toiletries to share with our local homeless provider.

Here are some of the items I had asked our friends to bring to our #DialCFK SIMPLE Service Project!!

Some of our friends were not able to make it to the actual SIMPLE Service Project day but they gave to me throughout the week to give to our local homeless provider.
Walmart has great prices on the Dial Soaps and many other items too.

Today we met at our park to share with our friends about Champion For Kids and Dial Into Giving and about the correct way to wash your hands. Each family brought a ton of stuff to give including the Dial Soaps.

Did you Know? 80% of infectious diseases are contracted through your hands. We touch everything. DIAL Complete is recommended by doctors. Wash your hands for 15 to 20 seconds.

I learned that children feel more successful in school when they feel clean. Children need to take there time to wash there hands properly and thoroughly before every meal, after playing on the playground, using the restroom, sneezing, coughing, playing with an animal or preparing food. Very important for maxium health.

Our friends were so generous with giving from there hearts. It's amazing what you can do when several people come together to help others. I love it when others help out because we are ALL called to help and serve others. It's better to give than to receive:)

Our donation items are going to a local organization named :
LOFT International Inc.
Loft stands for:
"Least of These"

Matthew 25:40
The King will reply, I tell you the truth whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

The VP of LOFT came out to the park to talk to us about her organization. LOFT International Inc. is a very unique organization because they don't have free standing building to do anything out of but rather they use there home to bag 40 meals on Sunday with there family and they each take 20 meals and drive around town to dispute the meals with a bottle of water. They have found that many of these Men or Women have children living on the streets. What I love about  is LOFT that they are loving and encouraging the homeless. They will take them to a local Goodwill and get them new clothing to feel clean. This builds there confidence to want to go out there and find a better life. Many will be waiting there weekly for a meal and a water. We got lots of hand washing items for donations, please read this article about Hand Washing To Help Prevent Disease Article

LOFT is out in the community sharing the Love of Christ.  Ellen's mom Sally was there also and she shared how they are serving the lest of these by handing out the water and food weekly. They will also see if they need toiletries when they are with them. They are trying to build relationships rather than just give them something and walk away. This builds trust which most of these men and women don't have. I know the Dial Soaps and all of the toiletries will  bring help to these people.

LOFT International gave out 8oz water bottle to show how most people drink 8oz or more a day and THE LEST OF THESE get nothing on some days.

Our group with all of our donations to give to LOFT International Inc. When we bagged it up we had four bags to give to our local homeless provider. Thank You so much to all who donated and how you are making a lasting impact.

Be One in a Million to help Champion for Kids meet their goal of 20 million people by 2020. Yeah, we did!!!!

DIAL INTO GIVING SIMPLE SERVICE PROJECT FOR CHAMPION FOR KIDS #DIALCFK #CBIAS

I was really excited for this SIMPLE Service Project called Dial Into Giving. It is a privilege to be able to serve out in our community. I wanted to participate in the #DialCFK Champions for Kids because it gives our family and others to learn about serving in our community with a SIMPLE act. It's so important to us to be out there serving our local neighborhoods. I want to be 1 in a Million to help reach 20 million kids by 2020 with the gift of GIVING. It's so SIMPLE. Donate your time or your resources to your local homeless shelter, check your church bulletins for opportunities, and why not just look around and I'm sure you will see a need of some kind.

We decided to DIAL Into Giving by going to Walmart and purchasing toiletries for our local homeless shelter. You can purchase an eight pack of soap for under $4.oo. Then you can Live to Give back into your community.

We are going to host a DIAL Into Giving party inviting our friends to Give back to our local homeless shelter which I hope in turn will light a fire within there hearts to give back. Not only can you purchase DIAL Soap but you purchase the DIAL bath wash for a needy family or your homeless shelter.

Did You Know?
According to the US Census, now over 1 in 5 children are living in poverty in the United States.
Wow, we could be that 1.

In 2011, the number of Americans receiving food stamps hit an all-time high at 46.2 million people- almost 15% of the country?
Amazing, people are hurting.

Food Stamps cannot be used to buy soap, shampoo, or basic household supplies necessary for good hygiene and healthy children.
Think about it, No Clean Hands, Nasty Germs, Feel SICK!!!!

For 98 cents you purchase a hand soap or two, three, or even four and give it away to someone that needs to hear about basic hygiene for themselves or there children. You don't have to spend alot to make a difference.

Walmart is offering the Dial hand soap for 98 cents until the end of October at stores nationwide.

Men are the providers in our household, they need to feel clean. DIAL has a line just for them to keep them feeling clean.

We purchased some basic hygiene items at Walmart to give our local homeless shelter. Toothpaste is very important to basic hygiene.

Our shopping cart of the many items we purchased to start off our DIAL Into Giving SIMPLE Service Project.
Our local homeless shelter organizer is coming to our DIAL Into Giving Party and is going to talk to us adults and children about there ministry to the local homeless people.

Giving is Living, It's not ours anyways, It's all God's!!!!!!

DIAL Into Giving- Live to Give
To make an impact to our world in a very SIMPLE way, by a few toiletries and share with friends our passion to LIVE to Give and then GIVE Back to our Local Homeless Shelter!!!
Can't wait for our party next week. To see more of my shopping experience please visit my Google Plus Story here.

Please learn more about what Champion for Kids is doing to help others. There are so many opportunities out there.

SHAUN WHITE SUPPLY COMPANY-THRASH SERIES SKATEBOARD-#SHAUNWHITESUPPLYCO #CBIAS

Our 10 year old son was so excited to go shopping for the New Shaun White Thrash Series Skateboard. DMan had a skateboard awhile back and was generous to give it to a friend that wanted it so this was a real treat for him. Shaun White is a Two Time Olympic Gold Medalist and won many X Games.I'm sure he puts his passion into his skateboards. DMan has been wanting a skateboard so I felt like it was time to purchase a really good skateboard named after a great SkateBoarder. So I decided to purchase him a Shaun White Supply Company Skateboard from the Thrash Series.

Walmart has recently started to carry the Shaun White Series so as we approached the display case DMan was jumping for joy for a new skateboard. At the Display Case you can download the QR Code for further information.

As you can see they had a great selection of the Shaun White Thrash Series Skateboards. The wheels are nice and bright and the underside of the skateboard is brightly colored with great graphic design. Many of the skateboard's have skulls and crossbones which our family is not thrilled about. DMan wanted the Bird design because we are studying Flying Creatures this year for Science.

We took our time to shop the other skateboards and our Walmart had a Huge selection as you can see. And we found that the Shaun White Skateboards was definitely the Best quality and very well put together. The price of the Shaun White Thrash Series Skateboards are very inexpensive. Shaun White himself has made the geometric truck design with the 54mm wheels.

Safety is number One, as we were at Walmart we checked out the safety gear. DMan needed elbow and knee guards and gloves that we purchased at Walmart.

We are on the way out of Walmart to ride our new Shaun White Skateboard.

DMan was super excited about his new skateboard. We have to visit our local skate park sometime very soon for skateboard fun.

DMan is all geared up with his elbow pads, knee pads and gloves and His New Shaun White Skateboard. DMan has done gymnastics for five years so his balance is really good and balance is key to skateboarding. DMan's father use to skateboard when he was a kid and he was teaching our son some moves. I feel that it is so important to send time together as a family so spending time outside is great, it helps all of us to be active. Our daughter outside rollerskating and my husband helping our son with the Shaun White skateboard.

DMan learned how to do a Wheelie on his New Shaun White Skateboard. This is great for DMan because he recently injured his shoulder and has been out of the gym for four weeks. Skateboarding has helped to keep him active. He is asking me daily to skateboard which is great exercise for any child. Boys are active anyways and skateboarding helps to excerpt that energy.

DMan learned the Tic Tac, 180 and Kick Flip. DMan is having a ball with his New Shaun White Skateboard.

On October 28th your local newspapers will be promoting the Thrash Series Board.
Stay up to date with Shaun White Supply Company on Facebook,Twitter, and YouTube

Flower Two Litter Bottle Art

I saw this craft on Facebook and thought I would share.

First save some two litter bottles for your flower design.

Have child paint a stem or branch for there flowers.

Take the two litter bottle and put end of bottle into the paint and then gently place on paper on one of the branches to make the flower.

Ducky placing her flower on her branch.

DMan showing you how it's done.

Final result, they came out really nice. If you want to you can put more flowers on the branch.
