Octopus and Squid Craft

This year we are studying Apologia Swimming Creatures.
This week we were studying Octopus,Squid,Cuttlefish and Nautilus.
Below is our Octopus Craft which I got from :

We used paper bags instead of felt and we painted them. That's what D Man is doing below.  I also had them paint the egg carton for the Octopus' face and googly eyes. They used pony beads for the tentacles.

We then had to let it all dry before putting it together which we left over night.

The drying Tentacles.

D Man with drawing of an octopus and then I had them write about Octopus'.

Here is the finished product

The underside of the Octopus

Ducky's drawing of an Octopus.

This is our Squid Craft that I got from:

First you have to paint the toilet paper tube the color of a squid.

Then you curl the bottom of the toilet paper tube with a pencil or crayon.

Ducky is curling her Squid's bottom.

Put on your googly eyes and tentacles. And you have your finished product.

These came out so cute.

We didn't compete but we get to see D Man's and Ducky's favorite dolphin "Winter" from Dolphin Tale.

This was really cool, this one Stingray keep coming up to our children. The staff told us his name is Where's Waldo because he hids in the sand from people but he was very social that day with our children. The children named him "Teddy" because he was soft.

This whole section was dead sea creatures that you could touch and hold.

Ft. Lauderdale Museum

We had a great time at the Ft. Lauderdale.
They have a indoor boat ride which was pretty cool. This is the entrance to the ride.

D Man in front of some info about the Everglades.

How your weight compares to the diet of a prehistoric animal.

Ducky on the scale.

They had a new exhibit there with the air boat section, prehistoric animals, and live otters.

There was a tank and there was a man there that was talking to the kids about starfish and horseshoe crab.

I don't know it is with our children but they love anything to do with hurricane's. I guess they don't remember the real ones.
